Women’s Health Research Chair in Rural Health

Arthur Labatt Family School of Nursing

The Faculty of Health Sciences at Western University, seeks an Endowed Chair to join our leading edge Arthur Labatt Family School of Nursing with over a 100-year history of academic and research excellence. The School is one of seven in a progressive Faculty and offers academic programs in nursing at undergraduate, masters, and doctoral levels. A new state-of-the art building for the School opened in January 2017.

The ‘Women’s Health Research Chair in Rural Health’ was established with the generous support of the Ontario Women’s Health Council and Arthur and Sonia Labatt to provide leadership in research on rural women’s health, promoting equity and improved health for the women of Ontario by working in collaborative partnerships with the healthy system, the community, research, and policy stakeholders. This is an appointment at the rank of Associate or Full Professor with tenure. The initial term of the Chair is 5 years with possible renewal pending positive evaluation of performance. The successful candidate will be an accomplished academic, who has attained a PhD in Nursing (or related field) and established a nationally/internationally recognized, independent, robust research program related to rural women’s health. They will have earned an outstanding reputation for mentoring and teaching in graduate and/or undergraduate programs. Applicants for this position will be Registered Nurses (Regular or Extended class) and eligible to hold a current license entitling them to practice with no restrictions with the College of Nurses of Ontario. Responsibilities include classroom teaching (typically 20% of workload), research (60%), and service (20%) to the School, Faculty, University, and profession as appropriate. Compensation and rank will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.

Support for research development is available through the Nursing Research Unit, the Faculty, and University. The anticipated start date of the appointment is July 1, 2025 or as negotiated.
