Reports to: WGEN Director

Hours: 3-5 hours per week

WGEN's mission is to educate the McMaster community to create a campus free from prejudice and discrimination based on gender expression and/or gender identity. WGEN supports survivors of gender-based discrimination, sexual assault, and related violence. We foster relationships among students, staff, and community members by providing information, resources, programming, and advocacy around gender-based oppressions.

The Research Coordinator will be responsible for researching and developing content for WGEN’s educational events and campaigns. Focus areas include issues faced by women, trans and gender non-conforming students, gender-based violence, and Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women within the McMaster community. They will also assist in developing WGEN Volunteer Training, ensuring information accuracy and verification.

This executive will collaborate with MSU and community partners to ensure projects are inclusive, impactful, and aligned with intersectional feminism principles. For detailed duties and responsibilities, please download the WGEN Research Coordinator job description.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Awareness of topics related to WGEN, including transphobia, racism, sexism, ableism, human rights issues, heterosexism, cissexism, heteronormativity, intersecting oppressions, and invisible privilege.

  • Organizational and time management skills.
  • Interpersonal and communication skills.

  • Ability to establish and maintain professional connections on and off campus.
  • Maintain confidentiality of all individuals accessing WGEN services.
Working Conditions
  • Shared office space in the MSU Committee Room.
  • Work hours may extend beyond scheduled times.
  • Most work can be completed in a shared office environment.
Training and Experience
  • Previous leadership experience preferred.
  • Necessary training will be provided.
