Reporting to the Deputy Warden of Operations, the Women and Youth Correctional Supervisor is responsible for the direct supervision of Women and Youth Correctional Caseworkers at the Nunavut Women's Correctional Centre (NWCC) and the Isumaqsunngittukkuvik Young Offenders (YO) Facility during an assigned shift. Working within a secure custodial environment, the position oversees the provision of a safe and secure custodial environment that emphasises women and youth client rehabilitation and reintegration. As a member of the facility leadership team, the position provides leadership, supervision, training, and mentoring to Women and Youth Correctional Caseworkers, oversees client programming and case management activities, and may perform the duties of a Women and Youth Correctional Caseworker or act in the Deputy Warden of Operations position when required.

• Being responsible for the caseworker (floor) operations at both NWCC and YO during a shift, overseeing the division of duties between the Women and Youth Correctional Caseworkers at both facilities;
• Monitoring and overseeing the observance and maintenance of institutional security procedures;
• Overseeing the observation and assessment of client behavior, intervening when appropriate;
• Overseeing escorts and transport of women and youth clients on outside visits, community outings, outside programs, legal appearances, and medical appointments;
• Assisting the Deputy Warden of Operations with assigning staff and relief coverage of operational posts and is fully responsible for this function in the absence of the Deputy Warden of Operations.
• Being responsible for the initial training and orientation of new Women and Youth Correctional Caseworkers and provides support in a leadership role;
• Overseeing the delivery of activities, programming, and education programs that provide opportunities for women and youth client behavioural change and rehabilitation;
• Overseeing the implementation of case plans, the monitoring of client progress, and the development of release plans to support client reintegration into society.

This is a Highly Sensitive Position and a satisfactory Criminal Record Check, along with a clear Vulnerable Sector Check is required.

• A high school diploma or equivalencies;
• Three (3) years of related correctional facility experience, including one (1) year of supervisory experience; and
• Successful completion of the Government of Nunavut's Corrections Qaujimalaaqtut Training Program (CQTP) or equivalent.
• Experience in a women's or youth custodial services environment, a social or health support service environment, case management, or mental health and wellness are considered as assets. A Human Services or Correctional Services Diploma or equivalent certification is also considered an asset.

The Official Languages of Nunavut are Inuktut, English and French. Applicants may submit their resume in any of the official languages of Nunavut. Fluency in more than one of Nunavut’s official languages would be considered an asset. Knowledge of Inuit communities, culture, land,Inuit Qaujimajatuqangit, Inuktut and experience working in a northern cross-cultural environment are also considered assets.
