Description

8am-4:30pm / Monday-Friday / Full Time / 40 hours

We are seeking a capable WOCN who has acquired broad experience in caring for patients and has developed a sound understanding about the care of a particular patient population.

  • Directs agency-wide initiatives for pressure ulcer prevention, wound care and ostomy care, to include supporting pressure ulcer prevalence data collection, evidence-based policies, procedures, and protocols, and advisement of appropriate support surfaces, products, and staff decision-making algorithms.
  • Develops and conducts educational programs and clinical instruction for Emory Healthcare staff and students enrolled in Emory University’s Wound Ostomy Continence Education Program.
  • Provides advanced clinical guidance to physicians and nursing staff regarding the management of complex wounds, fistulas, moisture management, and pressure ulcers.
  • Determines appropriate nursing interventions for identified patient problems, symptoms, and teaching needs in respect to wound and ostomy care.
  • Recommends the equipment, materials, and resources needed to successfully implement a wound or ostomy care plan.
  • Must meet all Clinical Nurse I Employee Commitments.
  • Achieves electives and contact hours as defined in the PLAN (clinical lattice) system to maintain position.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Graduate of an accredited prelicensure Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) AND Completion of an accredited WOC Nursing Education program
  • Two years experience as an RN
  • Must have a valid, active unencumbered Nursing license approved by the Georgia Licensing Board.
  • BLS certification
  • ACLS may be required in designated departments.
  • Must achieve certification in Wound Care and Ostomy Care within 12 months

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Certification in Continence Care is not required, but preferred.
  • Previous experience in Wound and Ostomy care preferred.
