Availability : Monday to Sunday, various operational hours and holidays

Position Type : Seasonal

Reports To : Operations Manager

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Rapidly assess and prioritize medical emergencies based on severity and criticality.
  • Administer immediate appropriate scope of practice medical care to individuals experiencing injuries, illness, or trauma.
  • Perform triage to identify and categorize patients based on the severity of their conditions.
  • Effectively communicate with emergency services and provide accurate and concise information for seamless coordination.
  • Administer basic life support measures, including CPR and defibrillation, when required .
  • Maintain thorough and accurate documentation of patient assessments, interventions, and medical history.
  • Ongoing training and drills to enhance emergency response capabilities.
  • Adhere to ethical and legal standards while respecting patient confidentiality and privacy.
  • Maintain and check emergency medical equipment and supplies daily, prior to each shift to ensure operational readiness.
  • Collaborate with regional police, paramedics and fire services when required .
  • Must be available to work all shifts whether they are morning, afternoon, or evening hours.
  • Follow all park standards, policies, and procedures.
  • All other duties as assigned or necessary to support the park as a whole and the Operations department. Management reserves the right to add or remove duties when circumstances ( e.g. Emergencies, change in workload, rush jobs, staff levels, or technical development) arise .

KNOWLEDGE & ABILITIES:

  • In-depth knowledge of emergency medical procedures, protocols, and best practices.
  • Understanding of pharmacology and the administration of medications in emergency situations.
  • Knowledge of the operation and maintenance of emergency medical equipment and devices.
  • Rapid decision-making and critical thinking skills in high-pressure situations.
  • Effective communication skills, both verbal and written, to convey information clearly and concisely.
  • S trong interpersonal skills to interact compassionately with patients, families, and other healthcare professionals.
  • Successful candidates will be comfortable using a handheld two-way radio, as part of their daily uniform.
  • Excellent organizational skills to manage resources, time, and priorities effectively.
  • Knowledge of the Mental Health Act.
  • Knowledge of PHIPA.
  • Knowledge of the Health Care Consent Act.
  • Must be able to lift weights in excess of 150lbs on a spinal board with a partner.
  • Ability to work in confined spaces.
  • Must be able to sit, stand, and walk for long periods of time throughout the day/night.
  • Must be able to operate computer patient care systems for documentation purposes .

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Valid Ontario G2 class license with a drivers abstract.
  • Valid EMR (Emergency Medical Responder) Certification.
  • Current and valid first aid and CPR Certification.
  • Previous EMR experience.
  • Primary Care Paramedic student considered a strong asset.
  • 18 years of age or older.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

This position requires occasional work in or around water, confined quarters, heights, loud environments, moving objects and large crowds. A successful candidate will be able to work in all weather conditions, including vast temperatures and weather conditions .
