Role Summary

In this role, you will be part of the Wireless/Connectivity Software team, responsible for designing and building cutting-edge 5G, Wi-Fi and connectivity software stacks which vehicles rely on for infotainment, in-vehicle hotspot, diagnostics and other customer facing features. In this multidisciplinary team, you will have the opportunity to work on various aspects of connectivity software that empowers connected vehicles.

Responsibilities

1. Design and develop modern wireless (Cellular and/or Wi-Fi) software stack and algorithms for Rivian’s cutting-edge connectivity system
2. Design and Implement state machines for control, data and voice services for interfaces with 5G/Wi-Fi modules
3. Develop object-oriented designs, abstraction layers, middleware and system services for embedded Linux systems
4. Define and implement good power, connection and network policy management for various network scenarios
5. Collaborate with other HW, BSP, wireless software developers, system architecture and test teams in architecting a scalable software platform
6. Ensure good software architecture practices are followed across the team; actively contribute to code and design reviews; perform unit testing to deliver high quality software

Qualifications

1. BS/MS in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science or Computer Engineering
2. Strong C++ programming and debugging skills
3. Experience in wireless technologies (Cellular or Wi-Fi)
4. Proficient in algorithms
5. Strong understanding of TCP/IP suite, memory management and file systems
6. Good understanding of ARM processors, toolchains, and Linux OS
7. Strong first principles thinking along with excellent analytical, debugging and problem solving skills

Nice to Have:

1. Cellular 4G/5G or Wi-Fi development experience
2. Linux network interface/connection management experience
3. Prior experience in embedded systems
