Job summary

The City of Port Colborne is seeking a Winter Roads Labourer to support the construction and maintenance of municipal roads, ditches, sidewalks, water, sewer, and sanitation services. This full-time seasonal role runs from October 2026 through April 2027, with a 40-hour work week and a wage of $31.29 per hour, plus eligibility for the OMERS Pension Plan.

Ideal candidates will have an Ontario secondary school diploma or equivalent, a valid DZ endorsement, and relevant road maintenance experience.

• Experience in road maintenance is an asset.
• Knowledge of safe work practices.

The Winter Roads Labourer is responsible for supporting the construction and maintenance of municipal roads, ditches, sidewalks, water, sewer, and sanitation services.

Responsibilities

• winter control operations
• installation and removal of snow fencing
• traffic control
• safety inspections
• accurate record keeping

Key Qualifications

• OSSD or equivalent Minimum of 6 months’ experience
• Valid, unrestricted Driver’s License with DZ Endorsement
• Previous road maintenance experience would be an asset
• Technical knowledge of safe work practices
• Ability to operate hand tools and equipment
• Ability to plan, organize and coordinate work
• Ability to communicate effectively
• Teamwork and cooperation

This is a full-time, seasonal position working from October 2026 through to April 2027. The position works 40 hours per week. The wage range is $31.29 per hour with eligibility for the OMERS Pension Plan.
