Job summary

Mackenzie Investments in Toronto is seeking an Institutional Sales Intern for the winter term (January–April 2027). Open to undergraduates returning to school; full-time 37.5 hours/week, Monday–Friday. Eligible to work for the entire term.

The role supports the institutional sales team across Canada, gaining exposure to sales, client service and business development, with responsibilities from client materials to CRM and reporting.

Qualifications

  • Currently enrolled in an undergraduate degree program in Business, Commerce, Finance, Economics, Mathematics, Statistics, or a related field.
  • Strong interest in financial markets, investing, asset management, or institutional client relationships.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in preparing client presentations, meeting materials, pitch books, and proposal responses for prospective and existing clients.
  • Conduct market, industry, and competitive research to identify trends, opportunities, and insights relevant to institutional investors.
  • Support ongoing CRM maintenance, pipeline reporting, and tracking of institutional sales activities.
  • Contribute to special projects aimed at improving team processes, reporting capabilities, and operational efficiency, including the use of AI and technology tools.
  • Develop an understanding of institutional investment products, portfolio construction, and the Canadian asset management industry.

Position:


We are currently hiring an intern in our Toronto office looking for a winter term position, January to April 2027. Candidates in an undergraduate program returning to school after the internship to be eligible to apply.


This is a full-time position requiring 37.5 hours per week, Monday through Friday. Candidates must be eligible to work full-time for the entire duration of the program.


Located in our Toronto office, the Institutional Sales Intern will support the team responsible for building and maintaining relationships with institutional investors across Canada. The successful candidate will gain exposure to the investment management industry while contributing to a variety of sales, client service, and business development initiatives.


Responsibilities:



  • Assist in preparing client presentations, meeting materials, pitch books, and proposal responses for prospective and existing clients.

  • Conduct market, industry, and competitive research to identify trends, opportunities, and insights relevant to institutional investors.

  • Support ongoing CRM maintenance, pipeline reporting, and tracking of institutional sales activities.

  • Contribute to special projects aimed at improving team processes, reporting capabilities, and operational efficiency, including the use of AI and technology tools.

Requirements:



  • Currently enrolled in an undergraduate degree program in Business, Commerce, Finance, Economics, Mathematics, Statistics, or a related field.

  • Strong interest in financial markets, investing, asset management, or institutional client relationships.

  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret data and identify key insights.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to prepare professional presentations and reports.

  • Ability to work well in a team environment

  • Excellent interpersonal, judgment & decision-making skills

  • Ability to self-motivate and prioritize time-sensitive deadlines

  • Comfortable with technical assignments and a high level of numeracy skill

  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint; experience with Salesforce, Power BI, or data visualization tools is considered an asset.


The expected annual base salary range (prorated for the term) for this role is $49,000 - $51,000, which isdeterminedbased on year of study, IGM program, geographic location andcandidate’sskills,knowledgeand experience. In addition to base salary, this role is eligible for paid time off.
