Job summary

IG Wealth Management is seeking an intern for a winter term position (January to April 2027). You will support the Business and Data Platforms team in Data Engineering tasks, developing datasets, models, and reports to understand the business and meet strategic objectives.

You will gain practical experience in AI and data engineering, with collaboration across teams, and exposure to Google Cloud and BI tools in a hybrid work environment.

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in a post‑secondary program in Data Science, Computer Science, Management Analytics, Statistics or a similar field.
• Strong interest in learning about and using AI; experience with Google Gemini or Microsoft Copilot is a plus.
• Knowledge of SQL, Python, and Git.
• Familiarity with BI/reporting tools such as Looker, Tableau, Power BI is a plus.
• Exposure to cloud technologies (e.g., Google Cloud) is beneficial.
• Good critical thinking skills with clear documentation and code reviews.
• Willingness to learn to develop code as part of a team.

Position

We are currently hiring an intern looking for a winter term position, January to April 2027. Candidates must be enrolled in an undergraduate program and plan to return to school after completing the internship to be eligible to apply.

This is a full‑time position requiring 37.5 hours per week, Monday through Friday. Candidates must be eligible to work full‑time for the entire duration of the program.

This position is responsible for supporting the Business and Data Platforms team in Data Engineering tasks. The student will assist in developing datasets, models, and reports which are used to understand our business and meet strategic objectives. This position provides a great opportunity for a university student to gain practical experience in the fields of AI and Data Engineering/Development.

Business and Data Platform’s mandate includes the following themes:

• Creating reusable capabilities across IGM
• Defining strategy & technology/solution roadmaps
• Prioritizing features & solutions by strategic value

Responsibilities

• Designing and developing relevant datasets, reports and analysis for operational and strategic initiatives
• Leveraging AI to automate work and increase efficiencies in everything that you do
• Looking for ways to integrate AI within our established workflows
• Work with data from multiple sources and databases (manipulate data, prepare data for machine learning/AI)
• Analyze structured and unstructured data, organize findings and translate into actionable insights
• Learn various modelling approaches and understand how to evaluate best performance considering model metrics and appropriateness for business interpretation
• Collaborate closely with relevant teams to ensure models/solutions can be deployed
• Participate in the development, testing, implementation, documentation and continuous improvement of datasets and data models as a member of the Business and Data Platform Portfolios

Requirements

• Currently enrolled in a post‑secondary program in Data Science, Computer Science, Management Analytics, Statistics or a similar field
• A strong interest in learning about and using AI; experience with Google Gemini or MicroSoft Co‑pilot is a plus
• Knowledge of SQL, Python, and Git
• Familiarity with Google Looker, Tableau, Power BI, and/or other BI and reporting tools is a plus
• Exposure to cloud technologies (e.g. Google Cloud) is beneficial
• Good critical thinking skills – conceptualizing, analyzing, synthesizing, and evaluating
• Willingness to learn how to develop code as part of a team, including clear documentation and code reviews

The expected annual base salary range (prorated for the term) for this role is $44,000 - $47,000, which is determined based on year of study, IGM program, geographic location and candidate’s skills, knowledge and experience. In addition to base salary, this role is eligible for paid time off.
