Job summary

Agnico Eagle Mines Limited offers an Environment Internship at the Meliadine site in Canada. You'll join the Environment Department to support sampling, monitoring, and reporting while promoting Agnico Eagle's environmental values.

You will conduct wildlife, vegetation, air, soil, and water sampling and prepare detailed reports. Schedule is 14 days on, 14 days off; accommodations and meals are provided on site.

Qualifications

• Enrollment in an undergraduate degree program in Environmental Science or Biology or related field.
• Enrollment in Environmental Technician college program or related field.
• Students must be enrolled in a formal Co-op program.

Responsibilities

• Conduct sampling, monitoring, and inspections along the Meliadine roads and sites to ensure compliance with environmental regulations.
• Installing and overseeing the implementation of mitigation measures to minimize environmental impact.
• Drafting detailed reports documenting findings and recommendations. Develops comprehensive work plans for environmental initiatives and projects.
• Assisting in organizing and facilitating meetings with stakeholders to address issues and concerns.
• Maintaining open communication between the Environment Department and other relevant departments.
• Undertaking additional tasks as assigned by the Environment Coordinator to support departmental objectives.

As an Intern reporting to the Environment Coordinator, you'll be integrated into the Environment Department and collaborate closely with other Departments of the operation. Your role will involve ensuring the achievement of set goals and objectives while promoting and respecting Agnico Eagle's culture, Health & Safety Code of Conduct, and environmental values.

WHAT YOU NEED TO SUCCEED

• Currently enrolled in an undergraduatedegree programin Environmental Science, Biology or related field. or
• Currently enrollment in Environmental Technician college program or related field.
• Students must be enrolled in a formal Co-op program.
• Demonstrated versatility and adaptability in conducting wildlife, vegetation, air, soil, and water sampling, along with other tasks related to mine sites and roads.
• A strong ability to work independently on assigned tasks as well as a member of a team is required.
• Strong work ethic with the ability to handle change.
• Demonstrate a high level of energy, self-motivation, and strong organizational skills.
• Strong communication skills including verbal and written as well as presentation skills required.
• Able work outside in the summer and the winter.
• Promote a safety mindset and approach to ensure that all projects and activities carried out comply with safety regulations and AEM standards.

Please note that English is the official working language at Meliadine.

Your Work Schedule:

• Schedule: 14 days of work, followed by 14 days for transportation and rest;
• Accommodations and meals are provided on site at no cost to the employee. Agnico Eagle provides charter flights to and from the mine site and will accommodate to cover other travelling expenses according to your location of residence in Canada.
