Job summary

Agnico Eagle Mines Limited invites interns to join the Environment Department at the Meliadine operation in Canada. Under supervision of the Environment Coordinator, you'll conduct field sampling and environmental monitoring, learn reporting, and support environmental initiatives within a safety-focused culture.

This internship runs on a 14-on/14-off schedule with accommodations and meals provided on site; charter flights and travel support are offered to employees located in Canada.

Qualifications

• Enrolled in an undergraduate program in Environmental Science, Biology or related field.
• Enrolled in Environmental Technician college program or related field.
• Must be enrolled in a formal Co-op program.
• Versatile in wildlife, vegetation, air, soil and water sampling on mine sites and roads.
• Capable of independent work and teamwork, with strong adaptability.

Responsibilities

• Conduct sampling, monitoring, and inspections along Meliadine roads and sites to ensure environmental regulation compliance.
• Install and oversee mitigation measures to minimize environmental impact.
• Draft detailed reports documenting findings and recommendations; develop work plans for environmental initiatives.
• Assist in organizing and facilitating stakeholder meetings to address issues.
• Maintain open communication between Environment and other departments.
• Perform additional tasks as assigned by the Environment Coordinator.

As an Intern reporting to the Environment Coordinator, you'll be integrated into the Environment Department and collaborate closely with other Departments of the operation. Your role will involve ensuring the achievement of set goals and objectives while promoting and respecting Agnico Eagle's culture, Health & Safety Code of Conduct, and environmental values.

WHAT YOU NEED TO SUCCEED

• Currently enrolled in an undergraduatedegree programin Environmental Science, Biology or related field. or
• Currently enrollment in Environmental Technician college program or related field.
• Students must be enrolled in a formal Co-op program.
• Demonstrated versatility and adaptability in conducting wildlife, vegetation, air, soil, and water sampling, along with other tasks related to mine sites and roads.
• A strong ability to work independently on assigned tasks as well as a member of a team is required.
• Strong work ethic with the ability to handle change.
• Demonstrate a high level of energy, self-motivation, and strong organizational skills.
• Strong communication skills including verbal and written as well as presentation skills required.
• Able work outside in the summer and the winter.
• Promote a safety mindset and approach to ensure that all projects and activities carried out comply with safety regulations and AEM standards.

Please note that English is the official working language at Meliadine.

Your Work Schedule:

• Schedule: 14 days of work, followed by 14 days for transportation and rest;
• Accommodations and meals are provided on site at no cost to the employee. Agnico Eagle provides charter flights to and from the mine site and will accommodate to cover other travelling expenses according to your location of residence in Canada.
