Job summary

GIRO is seeking a Software Development Intern to join its Algorithms team for the Winter 2027 term in Montreal. You will be part of a team focused on developing optimization algorithms for public transit and postal services, collaborating with software experts with extensive domain knowledge.

You will experience an agile environment and contribute to the design, development, and testing of features, while growing your technical and teamwork skills in a real-world setting.

Qualifications

• Currently pursuing at least two years of a bachelor’s degree or pursuing a master’s degree in Computer Science, Mathematics and Computer Science, or Software Engineering, with a specialization in Operations Research.
• Strong knowledge of object-oriented programming in C++ and operations research.
• Enjoys working in a team and thrives in a collaborative environment.
• Highly proficient in spoken and written French.

Responsibilities

• Participating in the design and development phases of a large-scale software product suite, including functional design, architecture, detailed analysis, and programming.
• Developing new optimization algorithm-related features within our applications.
• Implementing and testing software features.
• Managing software defects (bugs) and identifying appropriate solutions to resolve them.

• You have completed at least two years of a bachelor's degree or are pursuing a master's degree in Computer Science, Mathematics and Computer Science, or Software Engineering, with a specialization in Operations Research.
