Job summary

Lockheed Martin in Kanata is seeking a Mechanical Engineering Tech Coop to support the Manufacturing Engineer Team in operations. You will help implement engineering changes, plan production layouts, and develop schedules to align with customer requirements.

The role emphasizes data analysis, material coordination, quality collaboration, and continuous improvement. It is a 4‑month, on‑site coop starting January 2027, with exposure to ERP systems and lean processes.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Produce and update engineering changes and production deliverables.
• Assist with changes to production floor layout to meet product requirements.
• Develop and maintain production schedules considering demand, capacity and resources.
• Coordinate with procurement and inventory teams for timely material delivery.
• Collaborate with quality assurance to ensure compliance and monitor PMT metrics.
• Generate reports on production performance and identify trends.
• Troubleshoot production issues and implement corrective actions.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives and lean 6S practices.
• Liaise with production, purchasing, quality, maintenance and Engineering for alignment and cross‑functional solutions.
• Ensure all activities comply with laws, regulations and company policies.

Join the Kanata Operations Team! We are looking for a talented and motivated Mechanical Engineering Tech Coop to work with the Manufacturing Engineer Team within our Operations team.

In This Role You Will Be Responsible For

• Production Documentation: Implementation of engineering changes and making changes to production deliverables.
• Production Floor Planning: Support with making changes to the production floor layout to meet the product requirements.
• Production Planning: Develop and maintain production schedules that align with company objectives and customer requirements. considering factors like demand forecasts, production capacity, inventory levels, and resource availability. Optimize the allocation of human resources, machinery, and equipment to maximize productivity and minimize waste.
• Material Management: Coordinate with the procurement and inventory teams to ensure timely delivery of raw materials and components required for production.
• Quality Control: Collaborate with the quality assurance team to ensure that production processes adhere to quality standards and regulatory requirements, and performance of the PMT metrics is critical to the business.
• Reporting and Analysis: Generate reports on production performance, identify trends, and provide insights to support decision‑making.
• Problem‑Solving: Troubleshoot production issues, identify root causes, and implement corrective actions to minimize disruptions.
• Continuous Improvement: Work on process improvements, implement lean 6S manufacturing principles, and drive efficiency gains.
• Communication & Coordination: Liaise with various departments (production, purchasing, quality, maintenance and Engineering) to ensure alignment and smooth operations. Take a leading role in cross functional efforts to coordinate solutions, actions or achieve continuous improvement initiatives.
• Compliance: Ensure all production activities comply with relevant laws, regulations, and company policies.

Basic Qualifications

• Enrolled in a Mechanical Engineering Technician, Operations Management or similar accredited diploma program
• Experience in an ERP/MRP system such as SAP
• Proficient with Microsoft (MS) Office Suite (Word, Excel)
• Excellent organizational and multitasking abilities, with a keen attention to detail
• Strong analytical skills with proficiency in data analysis tools and methodologies
• Eligible for Enhanced Security clearance
• Candidate must be available for four (4) months, starting January 2027 and will be 100% onsite

Desired Skills

• Previous Manufacturing experience would be an asset.
