The Tech One Program (TOP) is a structured career development program for entry-level wind technicians, built in partnership between industry leaders, Sky Climber Renewables and Vestas Americas.


Job Summary:

The TOP Wind Service Technicians will receive exclusive wind safety and technical training accredited through the Global Wind Organization (GWO). They will primarily work at a wind site location near their home, on a service team to achieve safe and efficient wind turbine maintenance. They report directly to the Program Manager and Site Manager, and indirectly to the Lead Technician when on a job. They are responsible for performing all preventive, scheduled, and unscheduled maintenance on wind turbine generator equipment in a safe and efficient manner, maintaining and repairing machinery or components used mainly in power generation applications, turbines, and generators. They are not certified to perform work inside any Cabinet/Controller without direct supervision by a certified Electrical Technician. Additional duties may be assigned to meet customer needs and align with organizational mission and values.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications & Experience:

  • Authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis
  • High School Diploma / GED and an Associate Degree in a Technical Mechanical or Wind Energy discipline, or equivalent work experience in mechanical, electrical, or hydraulic industries
  • Successful completion of safety and technical training, including Basic Safety Training, Tower Safety Training, Technical Training, LOTO Training, and others as required
  • Pass Background Check and Drug Screening

Physical Requirements:

  • Climb a 300-foot wind tower multiple times per day
  • Work at heights of up to 300+ feet
  • Meet specific weight requirements of tower ladders (250-300 lbs)
  • Work in confined spaces
  • Repetitive motion activities
  • Occasional kneeling, squatting, climbing, walking, standing, and bending
  • Handle repetitive weight up to 50 lbs
  • Complete climb tests and tower rescue training

Responsibilities

  • Follow all Environmental, Health, and Safety procedures
  • Perform mechanical installations, maintenance, operations, and upgrades
  • Ensure work complies with customer requirements
  • Follow established work procedures
  • Document all work performed
  • Report policy or procedure violations
  • Submit progress reports
  • Repair or replace parts
  • Use activity-specific tools safely
  • Work independently on maintenance projects
  • Dismantle and assemble machinery and components
  • Travel as required (up to 25%)
  • Work holidays, weekends, and overtime as needed
  • Work at heights and in all weather conditions
  • Maintain a valid driver’s license with a clean record
