Job summary

Total Oilfield Rentals is seeking a Winch Tractor Driver based out of our Fort McMurray branch to safely transport equipment in accordance with policies and regulations. The role requires a valid Class 1 license, extensive experience with winch tractors and heavy oilfield equipment, and a willingness to work long hours including weekends.

Qualifications

• Must have a valid Class 1 driver’s license.
• Extensive experience operating winch tractors, wheeler trailers and scissor neck trailers.
• Knowledge of heavy equipment within oil and gas.
• Willingness to work long hours including weekends.
• Training certificates as required by role.

Responsibilities

• Check oil and start truck for warm up.
• Complete pre, post and en route inspections and associated paperwork.
• Coordinate with dispatch for direction and schedule.
• Hook up and deck off trailers; chain loads as needed.
• Load and secure rig components and rental equipment.
• Haul loads to lease locations and reload on other units.
• Ensure safe operation of unit per manufacturer specs.
• Supervise and guide swamper as needed.
• Maintain vehicle and equipment in good condition.

Job description

Total Oilfield Rentals (TOR) offers rental and transportation of drilling, completion and production equipment to the oil and natural gas industry throughout Western Canada and the Northwestern United States. Our mission is to exceed customer expectations by supplying superior rental equipment, transportation services and product support.

Position Summary

Reporting to the Branch Manager, Winch Tractor Driver are responsible for the safe and professional transportation of equipment in compliance with company and customer policies and procedures as well as government regulation. The driver must be in possession of a valid Class 1 driver’s license and well as all required training certificates. The driver will utilize the unit as for hauling loads within the manufacturer’s specification for both off road and legal on road.

Work Location: This is a full-time position based out of our Fort McMurray branch

Time Commitment

This role is subject to Federal Hours of Service regulations. You may be required from time to time to work outside these hours as the need arises and is subject to manager approval. Schedule may be altered at the discretion of management.

Summary of Duties (Duties may include, but are not limited to the following):

• Checks the oil and starts the truck for warm up
• Completes a pre, post and en route trip inspection as well as associated paperwork
• Contacts dispatch to ensure clear directions
• Hooks up and decks off the trailer
• Chains up the truck if muddy or icy
• Loading and chaining down loads (e.g. rig components, rental equipment)
• Pulling the winch line Lifting 3’ x 10’ planking Doing some 2” and 3” pipe handling
• Accessing and exiting the truck deck
• Rig up the Texas rigging
• Ensures the safety of surrounding workers
• Training and guidance of swamper
• Organizes work on lease operation
• Organizes loads
• Haul specific loads off the lease and/or reload on other units
• Liaises with customer\'s onsite representative as required.
• Maintenance requirements of the unit
• Ensures the safe operation of the unit and equipment as per manufacturer’s specs
• Other related duties as required
• Must have valid Class 1 driver\'s license
• Demonstrated ability, with extensive experience operating winch tractor, wheeler trailer and scissor neck trailers
• Knowledge and experience with heavy equipment within the oil and gas industry
• Willingness to work long hours including weekends
