Your Opportunity

Stantec has an opportunity for a Wildlife Biologist to work with our terrestrial wildlife team. The position will largely field based to support field programs in the wildlife discipline. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading wildlife programs and analyzing wildlife field data for a variety of projects.

This is a casual hourly position; hours of work will be based on project demands.

Your Key Responsibilities

  • Promote a strong health and safety culture and actively participate in Stantec’s Health, Safety, Security and Environment Program
  • Lead terrestrial wildlife programs such as biophysical inventories
  • Provide safety and technical support to junior staff

Qualifications

Your Capabilities and Credentials

  • Strong wildlife expertise, including demonstrated experience in nest sweeps, breeding bird surveys, amphibian salvage, and identification of wildlife habitat features
  • Knowledge of provincial and federal environmental legislation and regulations that relate to terrestrial wildlife
  • Demonstrated experience working in Northeast or Northwest British Columbia is an asset
  • Experience supervising and/or leading field teams
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal and social skills and ability to interact across a broad range of audiences/ technical backgrounds including internal and external clients, regulatory agencies, and Indigenous groups

Education And Experience

Bachelor or graduate degree in biology, or a related discipline from a recognized university is preferable.

Registration with the British Columbia College of Applied Biology as a Registered Professional Biologist (RPBio) or Registered Biology Technologists (R.B. Tech.) is a requirement.

Minimum Of 5 Years Of Relevant Consulting Experience.

Typical office environment working with computers and remaining stationary at a workstation for long periods of time. Pay transparency laws require employers to provide the following information for positions that may be in the following jurisdiction(s):

Salary Range(s)

  • Lower Mainland $41/BC Other Areas $38 PH - Lower Mainland $59/BC Other Areas $56 PH Min/Max Pay Range for postings located in BC (Lower Mainland includes Vancouver & Burnaby)

The final agreed upon compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. At Stantec certain roles are bonus eligible.
