Qualifications

  • No firefighting experience necessary, training provided for required courses.
  • Class 5 Driver’s license is an asset but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Work as Forest Fire Fighters and assist with other emergency services.
  • On-call work with deployments lasting up to 14 days.

Job description

Salary $24/hr starting ... increases with experience and qualifications

Start Date Summer 2025 - when required

Requirements No firefighting experience necessary.

Individuals must be able to pass a moderate fitness test (3.22km walk with 25 lbs. back pack in less than 30 minutes).

Courses or Certifications required:
S100 – Basic Wildland Fire Suppression;
S185 – Fire Entrapment Avoidance;
ICS 100 – Incident Command System;
WHMIS;
TDG – Transportation of Dangerous Goods

All of the S100, S185, WHMIS, TDG and ICS training will be provided to those who do not already have the certification.

Class 5 Driver’s license, Basic First Aid & TE or Advanced First Aid are an asset, but not required.

Duties Individuals will be working as Forest Fire Fighters, but may also be called upon for other emergency services such as prescribed fire , flood response, etc.

The work can be anywhere in BC or Canada as required, but our office is in Cranbrook.

We are preparing for the 2025 summer firefighting season, and need individuals in place once the need arises.

All workers are on call, as needed and when needed only.

A 12 hour work day is seen as typical once deployed. Deployments can last up to 14 days at a time. There may be multiple deployments each summer dependent on the Wildfire season.
