Job summary

Nova Scotia’s Aviation Services seeks helicopter pilots with extensive bush/utility flying experience for mid-career upgrade. Join a public-service, full-time, year-round role with strong union support in beautiful Nova Scotia. Fly high-performance aircraft focused on wildfire response, emergency ops, and remote load support.

You will operate in rugged terrain, advance pre/post-flight planning, and collaborate with a tight-knit team to deliver precise, safe results in challenging conditions.

Qualifications

• 2000+ hours PIC on helicopters; 1500+ hours on turbine helicopters.
• Recent external load, wildfire suppression, cargo slinging, and remote landings.
• Valid Category 1 Medical; familiar with CARs and bush ops safety.
• Nova Scotia Class 5 driver’s license or equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Fly helicopters on wildfire, longline, remote landings, search and rescue.
• Operate in challenging VFR environments across varied terrain.
• Sling gear into tight LZs and drop buckets on active wildfires.
• Support ground crews and coordinate with public safety and law enforcement.
• Conduct pre/post-flight planning and required documentation.
• Collaborate with engineers, ground support, and conservation teams.
