Wood's Homes is looking for one (1) full-time Youth & Family Counsellor to join our Wheatland Program. Please note this position is based in Strathmore, Alberta.

Role Summary

Reporting to the management of Wood's Homes, the Youth & Family Counsellor is the primary worker with children, youth, and families, usually on rotating shifts providing 24/7 coverage, and is a key team member delivering services within a structured setting. The counsellor will demonstrate excellence in providing high-quality services and adhering to the Health and Safety Management System at Wood’s Homes.

Note: Wood’s Homes pays a shift premium of $3.00 per hour for hours worked between 11:00 pm - 7:00 am.

Responsibilities
  • Implement and maintain a structured environment that promotes personal and social development for clients.
  • Participate actively in supervisory, team meetings, retreats, planning sessions, and training.
  • Handle therapeutic responsibilities for children, youth, and families, including attending case conferences, intervention planning, consultations, school meetings, medical appointments, and family meetings.
  • Maintain the living space to meet licensing standards.
  • Perform tasks related to program functioning such as meal preparation, cleaning, and transportation of clients.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Diploma or undergraduate degree in Social Sciences, Child and Youth Care, Social Work, Nursing, with a minimum of two to four years of related experience.
  • Current CPR and First Aid certifications.
  • Experience working with youth is preferred.
  • Professional registration may be required depending on qualifications.
  • Valid Class 5 driver’s license and personal transportation required.
