Qualifications

Job description

Position Details: Fixed-term, 12 months, Existing position

Salary Range: $54,300 - $67,900 based on a 35-hour week

Location: Remote, Eastern Ontario

Closing Deadline: May 11, 2025 (11:59PM EDT)

What You Will Do

As Wetland Conservation Specialist, you will primarily be responsible for the identification, development and delivery of wetland conservation projects.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Identification, prospecting and management of a variety of potential wetland and grassland conservation projects.
  • Delivery of conservation projects on schedule and on budget.
  • Participation in the securement of funding for conservation programs
  • Steward relationships and work closely with private landowners, various conservation partners, and government organizations.
  • Manage project data through various internal tracking systems.
  • Assist with responding to public inquires and support other staff on the DUC team

You are a self-motivated individual with a positive, “can do” attitude, who thrives in a fast-paced environment. You are a reliable team player with strong organizational, time management and interpersonal skills as well as excellent oral and written communication skills will make you a great asset to our team.

Requirements

  • University degree in environmental science; a MSc would be an asset
  • Bilingualism (French and English) with ability to confidentially converse (verbal and written) is an asset
  • Minimum of three (3) years of experience working in the environmental field
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Practical knowledge of aquatic ecosystems, Species at Risk and wildlife biology
  • Knowledge of the Microsoft Office suite
  • Basic GIS skills and knowledge of the ESRI suite of products and associated mobile data collection apps
  • Knowledge of working farms and practices, annual crop and forage/grazing production systems.
  • You are a “people person” who enjoys engaging with the public and working directly with local land stewards and cultivating solid relationships.
  • A passion for conservation, the environment and the outdoors; experience in the non-profit and/or environmental conservation sectors would also be an asset.
