Job summary

Ontario Real Estate Association is seeking a Government Relations Specialist – Western to advance local and provincial advocacy for Ontario’s REALTORS®. The role focuses on municipal policy, stakeholder engagement, and coordinating campaigns across Western Ontario, with frequent travel and a hybrid work arrangement.

You will report to the Head of Government Relations and support boards, committees, and elected officials to shape policy and drive positive outcomes.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree, preferably in a related field.
• 3–5 years in community organizing, politics or government.
• Knowledge of provincial/municipal legislative processes.
• Willingness to travel up to 20% with a valid Ontario driver’s license.
• Experience in grassroots organization or member-facing campaigns is an asset.

Responsibilities

• Policy and research: analyze municipal housing, land use, and budgets; briefings and analysis on local issues.
• Communications: draft remarks, letters, submissions; support advocacy campaigns and Calls to Action.
• Government relations: build relationships with local and provincial decision-makers; coordinate board participation.
• Engagement: organize meetings between boards and officials; ensure access to advocacy resources.
• Events: support attendance at advocacy conferences and related events.
