Position Overview

HDR's Mining Practice is experiencing significant growth in permitting, design, and operational support for greenfield and brownfield projects. We are seeking a West Region Mining Practice Lead to support our clients' engineering, GIS, and permitting challenges. This role is a combination of technical leadership, project management, and business development.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Provide technical leadership and project management to guide project teams and ensure successful project completion.
  2. Monitor and communicate project status to HDR leadership and network internally to assemble multidisciplinary teams.
  3. Expand program service offerings within the West Region through regional and national teams, including training and mentoring.
  4. Engage in business development through client interactions, proposal development, and relationship building with mining clients.
  5. Recruit personnel to grow the Mining Practice in the West Region and expand service capabilities.
  6. Participate in industry organizations, present at events, and mentor project teams.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in mining, civil, chemical engineering, or related field; PE license preferred.
  • At least 15 years of industry experience, with 10+ years in mining project management.
  • Experience managing mining projects, familiarity with various mining operations, and software tools.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and mentoring skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Google Earth, ESRI ArcGIS, AutoCAD, and mine planning software.
  • Certifications such as MSHA Surface/Underground, PMP are desirable.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field.
  • Minimum 10 years of related experience.
  • Professional registration and technical expertise.
  • Experience leading diverse teams and collaborating across functions.
