Position Details

The Student Wellness Services team at the University of Lethbridge is currently inviting applications for a 1 year temporary position as a Wellness Outreach Coordinator.

We are dedicated to fostering a campus culture that prioritizes the holistic well-being of our students. Our Student Wellness Services team is committed to creating an environment where students can thrive mentally and physically. As a Wellness Outreach Coordinator, you will play a crucial role in promoting student flourishing through proactive and preventative health and wellness programming and outreach.

Key Responsibilities

  • Early Alert Program Leadership:
    • Proactively identify students-at-risk and engage in case management to mitigate risk and promote student wellness and academic success.
    • Assess mental health and risk of harm for students referred through our Early Alert systems.
  • Referral Coordination:
    • Facilitate referrals from faculty, staff, and students regarding students of concern.
    • Participate in programs such as the StartSmart student retention initiative.
  • Health Promotion Activities and Programs:
    • Lead health promotional activities and programs, including coordinating REC Rooms, classroom visits, booth fairs, social media content, and organizing events.
    • Chair the Alcohol and Drug Awareness Committee.
  • Student Wellness Ambassador Program (SWAP):
    • Lead and coordinate the Student Wellness Ambassador Program.
    • Mentor and guide Student Wellness Ambassadors in promoting mental and physical health on campus.
  • Mental Health Training:
    • Deliver suicide prevention and mental health promotion programs such as QPR (Question, Persuade, Refer) and Inquiring Minds.
    • Provide accessible and relevant mental health training to the whole campus community.
Position Qualifications

The Successful Incumbent Will Have

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field such as BSW, BEd, B.H.Sc. Public Health etc.
  • 2 years of work experience in a related role.
  • Registration with a professional regulatory body, such as the Alberta College of Social Work
