Job description

Welding Inspector CSA W178.2 lvl II, CGSB MT lvl II

CIC Inspection & Consulting Ltd. is currently hiring a CSA W178.2 Level II Weld Inspector, CGSB lvl II Magnetic Particle Technician with CSA W59 & W47 endorsements for a full-time, permanent position based in the Edmonton area. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced and detail-oriented professional to join a respected and safety-focused inspection team. This role requires a valid Class 5 driver’s license and reliable daily transportation to and from the Head Office in Edmonton, Alberta. Additional non-destructive testing CGSB certifications are an asset.

Key Responsibilities
  • Interpret and apply owner and client specifications
  • Ensure compliance with internal quality control standards and procedures
  • Confirm dimensions of fabricated components
  • Conduct visual inspections of welds
  • Verify material grade & size
  • Confirm component orientation and dimensions
  • Conduct NDE (MPI/LPI)
  • Maintain inspection logs and daily tracking sheets
  • Generate inspection reports for every job
  • Evaluate and record welding defects; assess against acceptance criteria
  • Monitor adherence to Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS)
  • Notify the Quality Control Lead of any quality or compliance issues
  • Collaborate with welders and fabrication crews to address quality concerns
Qualifications & Experience
  • Minimum 3 years of weld inspection experience as a CSA W178.2 Level II
  • CSA W178.2 Level II certification
  • CGSB level II MPI
  • Familiarity with Structural Drawings
  • Strong knowledge of inspection procedures, code compliance, and industry standards
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Highly detail-oriented and organized
  • Valid Class 5 driver's license
  • Ability to pass a drug test
  • Proficiency in English (verbal and written)
