Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Welding Engineering or related field.
• Minimum 5 years welding engineering experience, nuclear/regulated industry preferred.
• Strong knowledge of GTAW, SMAW, GMAW, FCAW, SAW and robotic welding.
• Experience developing and qualifying welding procedures and standards.
• Familiarity with ASME and CSA welding codes; P.Eng. eligibility in Ontario.
• Excellent problem-solving and communication; ability to work independently.

About the Role:

We are seeking an experienced Welding Engineer to support our growing Nuclear Services team. The successful candidate will play a key role in developing, reviewing, and overseeing welding and integrity programs in support of nuclear projects, ensuring compliance with applicable codes, standards, customer requirements, and regulatory expectations.

This position offers the opportunity to work on high-profile nuclear projects while collaborating with multidisciplinary engineering, quality, and operations teams.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide welding engineering support for fabrication, installation, maintenance, and refurbishment activities.
• Troubleshoot welding issues and recommend solutions to optimize performance and quality. Develop, review, and approve Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS), Procedure Qualification Records (PQR), and related welding documentation. .
• Support welding qualification testing and welder performance qualifications.
• Participate in project planning, estimating, and execution activities related to welding and fabrication.
• Conduct technical assessments and resolve welding-related issues during project execution.
• Interface with organizational stakeholders, regulators, inspectors, contractors, suppliers and third-party auditors as required.
• Review material specifications, fabrication drawings, and engineering documents for welding requirements.
• Support quality assurance and quality control activities, including inspections, audits, and non-conformance resolution.
• Prepare technical reports, engineering evaluations, and recommendations.
• Ensure compliance with applicable codes and standards, including CSA N285, CSA W47.1, CSA W59, ASME Section III, ASME Section IX, and customer-specific requirements.
• Stay current with applicable welding codes, standards, industry best practices, and emerging technologies, and incorporate relevant updates into welding procedures, specifications, and work practices.
• Support integrity programs including piping, pressure vessels with welding and mechanical joints assessments.
• Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives, lessons learned, and best practices within the organization.
• Conduct training sessions for staff on welding techniques, procedures, and code updates.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Welding Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Metallurgical Engineering, or a related discipline.
• Minimum 5 years of Welding Engineering experience, preferably in nuclear, energy or regulated industry.
• Strong knowledge of welding processes including GTAW, SMAW, GMAW, FCAW, SAW, automatic and robotic welding.
• Experience in welding engineering, welding program support, or pressure boundary engineering.
• Experience developing and qualifying welding procedures, technical specifications and standards.
• Working knowledge of ASME and CSA welding codes and standards. Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation, or eligibility for registration in Ontario.
• International or CWB Welding Engineer (IWE/WE) designation is an asset.
• CWB certification, NDE experience, or metallurgical analysis experience is an asset.
• Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and technical communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams.
• Security clearance or ability to obtain site access for Canadian nuclear facilities.
