Qualifications

  • Preferred candidates are 1st or 2nd year registered Apprentice Welders.
  • Previous facility construction & maintenance experience is an asset.

  • Assist skilled tradespeople in welding, brazing, and cutting activities.
  • Lift, move, and hold workpieces manually or with tools.

Skills

Interpret Acorn drawings
Lift up to 50 pounds
Comfortable working outdoors
Pass pre-employment drug & alcohol testing

Job description

Position Summary

Welders Helpers assist skilled tradespeople in welding, brazing, and thermal and arc cutting activities, and perform labour activities at various construction and project sites.

Employees are expected to support a "culture of safety," adhere to Strike’s Code of Conduct and Values, and treat others with dignity, respect, and fairness.

Position Details
  • Based out of our Whitecourt location
  • Candidates local to Whitecourt preferred
Core Accountabilities
  • Interpret Acorn drawings
  • Help fit pipe spools
  • Lift, move, and hold or clamp workpieces manually or with tools
  • Clean workpieces to remove impurities
  • Connect hoses and cables for welding activities
  • Start engines on electric generators
  • Remove tags or marks and move finished work
  • Attach grappling equipment for moving by crane
Qualifications
Education
  • 1st or 2nd year registered Apprentice Welder preferred
Experience
  • Previous facility construction & maintenance experience is an asset
Skills, Knowledge, & Abilities
  • Pass pre-employment drug & alcohol testing
  • Interpret Acorn drawings
  • Lift up to 50 pounds
  • Comfortable working outdoors
