Job summary

Canam is seeking a skilled MIG welder for our Mississauga production line. You will lift, assemble and tack joist pieces, and set up MIG welding equipment to join metal parts per drawings and welding specs.

The role requires two+ years MIG welding experience, a CWB certification, and basic English reading/maths skills. Afternoon shift 4:00 PM–12:30 AM; safety and quality standards are emphasized as part of daily operations.

Qualifications

• Minimum of two years MIG welding experience on steel production lines.
• CWB Certification is required.
• Basic English reading and mathematical skills.
• Ability to follow instructions and work within a team.
• Strong safety awareness and adherence to quality standards.
• Ability to lift parts and welds that meet company standards.

Responsibilities

• Lift, assemble and tack joist pieces at the jig.
• Set up MIG welding equipment and perform welding operations to join metal parts according to drawings.
• Read and interpret shop blueprints and welding specifications.
• Position pieces, align and secure according to design and assist jig setup.
• Apply precise and consistent welds and maintain 5S housekeeping.
• Perform routine cleaning and basic maintenance of MIG welding machines.
• Comply with Health, Safety, Quality and Lean policies; perform other duties as assigned.

• Lift, assemble and tack joist pieces at the jig.
• Setting up MIG Welding Equipment and performing welding operations to join metal parts and components by applying appropriate welding techniques.
• Read and interpret shop blueprints, drawings and welding specifications.
• Finding the right pieces of metal, position them, lining up and securing all pieces according to the design and help setting up the jig as required
• Apply precise and consistent weld to produce defect-free welds.
• Keep the work area clean and follow 5S standards.
• Performing routine cleaning and basic maintenance of MIG Welding Machines and practicing good housekeeping including 5S and and time management in the performance of daily duties.
• Comply with all legislated and Company’s Health, Safety Environmental, Quality and Lean policies, procedures and programs.
• All other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Minimum of two years related MIG welding experience and/or training on steel production lines; or the equivalent combination of education and experience.
• CWB Certification is required.
• Must possess basic English reading and mathematical skills.
• Ability to follow instruction and work within a team environment.
• Strong awareness of surroundings taking into account safety of self and others.
• Position will require the ability to produce welds which meet company quality standards, the ability to lift parts as needed and the ability to work at a pace established by production standards.

Additional Information

Pay rate: $34.07 per hour

Afternoon Shift: 4:00 PM to 12:30 AM
