Qualifications

Summary of Primary Function

Performs all welding duties, typically at extreme heights, according to specifications on the erection site, using SMAW welding equipment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

All employees are required to follow safety and quality rules to ensure a safe working environment and high-quality products.

  1. Clean connection plates with chipping hammer and/or grinder.
  2. Climb ladders with welding leads to extreme heights to connect panels with welds.
  3. Read blueprints, drawings, and weld symbols to determine welding requirements.
  4. Drill holes for red-head bolts in foundations, install bolts, clip angles to foundations, and weld angles to panels.
  5. Adjust bad joints using a hand wrench to align panels for welding.
  6. Weld haunch and base plates on members at the job site, when required.
  7. Weld connection plates on panels, beams, columns, and double tees as needed.
  8. Weld carbon plates using fillet and groove welds.
  9. Assist erection crew with duties such as grouting and positioning members when available.
  10. Understand Tindall Welding and Grouting procedures thoroughly.
  11. Perform miscellaneous duties as directed by supervisor.
Education and Experience

High School Diploma or GED with 1-3 years of experience and/or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Required Certifications

Must be or become Tindall Certified in SMAW 3F & 4F.
