Job description

Matrix HR is hiring Apprentice and Journeyperson / Red Seal Welders and Metal Fabricators for a long-term high-profile shipbuilding project in North Vancouver.

Pay rate is $57.00 / hour

  • Referral Bonus!
  • We are pleased to offer a referral bonus of $200 for each individual referred to MatrixHR who is successfully hired for this project. To be eligible for the referral payment, the referred candidate must complete a minimum of one week of work on our payroll.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform SMAW and FCAW welding in all positions.
  • Operate welding, flame-cutting, and air arc cutting equipment.
  • Interpret blueprints and welding specs.
  • Work in shipbuilding, steel fabrication, and repair environments.
  • Cut, shape, and assemble metal parts using hand / power tools.
  • Weld components using MIG, TIG, or ARC welding.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and specs.
  • Move and position heavy parts using cranes or forklifts.
  • Perform quality checks to ensure accuracy.

Physical effort and work conditions :

  • Candidates will be required to work at heights from ladders, scaffolding, and platforms.
  • Work in confined spaces, inclement weather.
  • Support extended hours and overtime as business needs dictate.
  • Work may be performed indoors and outdoors.
  • You will frequently handle, lift, carry, and set up parts and equipment that weigh up to fifty (50lbs) pounds.
  • Occasionally, you may be required to lift and carry items that weigh over fifty (50lbs) pounds.

Qualifications :

  • Red Seal / Journeyperson Ticket or active Apprenticeship Program Membership.
  • Valid Confined Space & Fall Protection Tickets.
  • WHMIS certification.
  • Eligibility to work in Canada.
  • Ability to pass Government Security Clearance & background checks.
  • Physically fit and capable of working at heights, in confined spaces, and lifting up to 50 lbs.
  • Full PPE + Fit-Tested Respirator Mask.
