Job description

JP Welder with IRATA Rope Access Certification

Position details and requirements include:

  • Support for projects supporting clients in Fernie BC.
  • Salary range: CA$47.50/hr to CA$54.50/hr, based on qualifications and certifications.
  • Legal work authorization in Canada required.
  • Local candidates or those willing to relocate preferred.
  • Perform welding using SMAW, GTAW, GMAW, and FCAW processes, adhering to engineering specifications and standards.
  • Weld in various positions—flat, vertical, horizontal, overhead—ensuring quality and compliance.
  • Read and interpret WPS, blueprints, and technical drawings.
  • Prepare materials and set up welding equipment.
  • Inspect welds, measure dimensions, and perform repairs or rework as needed.
  • Conduct NDT such as visual, dye penetrant, and magnetic particle testing.
  • Adjust techniques to correct defects and maintain quality.
  • Follow safety regulations and industry codes (CSA W47.1, W59).
  • Required certifications include Journeyman Welding or Registered Apprentice, CWB SMAW all-position certification, IRATA Level 1 (or willingness to obtain), and safety certifications as per provincial legislation.
  • Candidates must be local to Fernie and/or Sparwood BC or willing to relocate.
