Job summary

Vale Base Metals is seeking a Welder Fitter for its Sudbury Divisional Shop. Knowledge of welding codes and standards
Experience with rigging and material handling
Knowledge of specific welding hazards

Ability to interpret shop drawings

The Opportunity

We are currently seeking a Welder Fitter to join our Divisional Shop team in Sudbury, Ontario. This is a permanent on-site position.

As a Welder Fitter, you will be responsible for all metal fabrication, metal welding, including pressure welding; brazing, cutting, and gouging.

Additionally, in this position, you will:

  • Read and interpret structural steel drawings, and pipe and pressure vessel drawings.
  • Lay out, fabricate, assemble, install, dismantle, modify and repair plate and structural steel, plant and mine equipment.
  • Align with work safety policies and safety regulations.

About You

Fully Licensed Journeyperson:

  • Trade Certification: Metal Fabricator/Plate worker (437A Red Seal) is required and CWB Certified.

Experience:

  • Minimum 4 years of progressive industrial experience is preferred.

Skills:

  • Experience with oxy-fuel and plasma arc cutting.
  • Knowledge of welding codes and standards.
  • Experience with rigging and material handling.
  • Knowledge of specific welding hazards to protect self and others is required.
  • Experience with metal working equipment (shear, brake press, rolls, radial drill and power saws).
  • Ability to interpret and work off shop drawings in custom fabrication environment.
