Job description

Fortis is a privately owned company based out of Saskatoon, SK that provides mining, engineering, and manufacturing services to the mining and construction industries. The company has a global focus that offers contracting, subcontracting, and consulting services to a wide range of customers.

We have an immediate need for highly motivated, safety-conscious Welders. The Welder’s primary responsibilities include completing welds on new and existing structural steel according to engineered prints and quality standards. Quality work and timely completion of all aspects of work performed is required. Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test will be required as a condition of employment.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

• Read and interpret blueprints or welding process specifications
• Participate in the preparation and following of safety procedures & permits throughout the course of their work
• Install various types of rigging and other hoisting equipment
• Disassemble and/or remove existing structural steel components
• Assemble and/or install new or modified structural steel components
• Operate hoisting and lifting devices
• Must be physically fit and able to lift up to 50 pounds
• Commitment to working safely and following safety protocol
• Ability to follow instructions
• Ability to use judgement and apply discretion when making decisions
• Ability to work alone or in a team environment

REQUIRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, & SKILLS

• CWB certification FCAW All Position, SMAW All Position
• Valid fall protection certification
• Experience working in a safety-sensitive environment
• Experience in a construction environment is considered an asset
• Comfortable working at heights
• Valid 5A Driver’s License
• Any safety-related training and certificates would be beneficial, but not required
