Job summary

Prairie Machine seeks a skilled Welder for our Saskatoon, Canada facility. The role involves welding ferrous and non-ferrous metals, reading blueprints, and setting up equipment to meet precise specifications.

With 3+ years of MIG experience and a CWB certificate, you will work on various weld types and positions, including arc and flame-cutting tasks, while maintaining safety and efficiency in a clean, well-organized shop.

Qualifications

• Apprentice / Journeyperson or equivalent relevant experience.
• Valid CWB certified.
• 3+ years experience with MIG (steel).
• Experience with TIG, stainless steel and aluminum is an asset.

Responsibilities

• Read and interpret blueprints or welding process specifications
• Operate manual or semi-automatic welding equipment to fuse metal segments
• Operate submerged Arc welding equipment
• Operate manual or semi-automatic flame-cutting equipment
• Operate brazing and soldering equipment
• Operate metal shaping machines
• Repair worn parts of metal products by welding on extra layers
• Determine the appropriate welding equipment or method based on requirements
• Set up components for welding according to specifications (e.g. cut material with powered saws to match measurements)
• Operate angle grinders to prepare the parts that must be welded
• Weld components using manual or semi-automatic welding equipment in various positions (vertical, horizontal or overhead)
• Repair machinery and other components by welding pieces and filling gaps
• Test and inspect welded surfaces and structure to discover flaws
• Maintain equipment in a condition that does not compromise safety
• Follow prescribed safety standards, rules and regulations
• Instill a safety culture; lead by example
• Identify and record non-conformities and participate in their resolution
• Participate in continuous improvement initiatives
• Recommend improvements and develop improvement plans in production methods, equipment, operating procedures and working conditions
• Maintain a well-organized and clean facility as per Prairie Machine vision
• Maintain all equipment and tools per recommended procedures
• Ability to work as a respectable, professional and efficient team member

Job Profile

Compensation

• Position pays approximately $48,000 to $80,000 yearly - salaries vary depending on various factors, such as skill, ability, experience and qualifications for the role
• Night shifts are eligible for a $4/hr premium
• Weekend shifts are subject to an 11% hourly wage premium
• Overtime may be available
