Job Summary:

This role is responsible for the entire sequence of cutting and welding operations for a wide variety of repair and fabrication work. The duties include aligning and welding components of metal tools, wires, fixtures, and other metal products, utilizing different types of welding systems as needed, maintaining a safe work environment, and training apprentices in the trade.

Key responsibilities include:

• Performing car repairs involving cutting and welding on the metal jacket and other components
• Assembling trucks, gauging, and replacing parts and wear components
• Reading, understanding, and following repair orders and procedures
• Adhering to health and safety standards, including the Responsible Care policy
• Additional duties as assigned

The typical schedule is a two-week rotation: Monday to Friday 7:00 am – 3:30 pm, and Monday to Thursday 3:15 pm – 1:45 am, subject to change based on business needs. The starting hourly rate at the Sarnia Service Centre is $36.57, with an afternoon shift premium of $1.00/hour.

Requirements:

• Legally entitled to work in Canada
• Minimum 2-3 years of welding experience
• Ability to pass an entry-level test in 3-position Flux core (FCAW) welding, using 11-gauge material
• Understanding of welding and cutting equipment for procedural adjustments and safety inspections
• Competent and safe use of shop tools and equipment including electric, pneumatic, hydraulic tools, cranes, shears, and hand tools
• Railcar repair experience is an asset
• WHMIS trained
• Detail-oriented and quality-focused
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Effective communication and organizational skills
• Comfortable working at heights, in confined spaces, around machinery, and in noisy, fume-filled environments
• Physically capable of performing tasks requiring moderate to heavy exertion
• Possession of a valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
• Adherence to Procor’s health and safety standards and proper PPE usage
