Position Summary

The Welder is responsible for fitting and welding metal assemblies in accordance with mechanical drawings and welding specifications. This role involves interpreting blueprints, accurately performing MIG / TIG welds on mild steel, and ensuring that all work meets quality and safety standards. The Welder must have strong attention to detail, be able to work independently or as part of a team, and consistently follow established safety procedures.

Key Responsibilities

  • Weld materials to tanks and weld tank fixtures together.Clean all slag and splatter.
  • Practice 5S
  • Proficiency in MIG welding mild steel
  • Proficiency in TIG welding of mild steel, stainless steel and aluminum.
  • Proficiency in the use of our Plasma cutter.
  • Proficiency in Mechanical Drawing reading (blueprint reading)
  • Proficiency in Welding T / R sets, both round and rectangular, leak free oil tight welds.
  • Proficiency in welding external switch box enclosures, with thin gauge steel.
  • Proficient in the safe and proper use of grinders, drills and face shields
  • Produces strong penetrated welds that are smooth, non-porous and consistent.
  • Understands the various edge preparations required prior to welding.
  • Weld both horizontal and vertical plane geometry.
  • Understand various weld form symbols on blueprints and understand the size of the fillet forms.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 3 years’ experience as a welder.
  • Canadian Welding Board Certification for MIG welding in the flat position
  • Concise and clear written and verbal communications skills.
