The Territory Account Manager acts as the primary liaison between WEG Marathon and its customers, representing the Marathon Industrial motors business.

This role involves managing a defined list of accounts, overseeing daily activities, revenue growth, and profitability. The Account Manager works to identify new business opportunities, develop relationships, and provide technical and commercial solutions, all while exceeding revenue and profit targets. Responsibilities also include implementing account plans, conducting training, and introducing new products and solutions.

Reporting to the National Sales Manager, the Account Manager provides market insights, project updates, forecasting, and competitive intelligence. Day-to-day activities include strategic discussions on pricing and channel management. The role has dotted line responsibilities to other business leaders. Ideally, the position is based in Calgary or Edmonton.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage a defined set of accounts and acquire new accounts in Toronto and surrounding areas, focusing on WEGMarathon Industrial motors.
  • Develop and implement account strategies to achieve sales and profitability goals.
  • Collaborate with key distributors and OEMs in the region, maintaining end-user contacts as needed. Conduct account planning, forecasting, presentations, and training sessions.
  • Showcase the value of Marathon motors, develop pricing and application strategies with support from management and marketing.
  • Maintain a pipeline of business to ensure ongoing success, utilizing CRM tools.
  • Understand customer needs, market dynamics, and competitor activities; communicate market trends effectively.
  • Build and sustain a positive customer experience.
  • Coordinate with the broader Marathon team, including Customer Service, Marketing, and Operations.
  • Participate in trade shows, training programs, market initiatives, and other sales activities.

Professional Experience / Qualifications

  • Technical diploma or degree in electrical or mechanical engineering.
  • CET certification or engineering background is an asset.
  • At least 5 years of technical B2B sales experience, preferably in the motor industry.
  • Experience working with Distributors and OEMs.
  • Proficiency in MS Office (especially Excel) and CRM applications.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Willingness to travel locally and occasionally overnight, including potential trips to the USA.
