Job Description

This individual will be responsible for all aspects of planning and managing the unloading/loading of all transfer freight and local delivery freight. This is a high-volume, fast-paced environment.

NOTE: This shift is weekend days -- Saturday to Monday 1000 hrs to 2230 hrs. This is a salaried position which reports to the Terminal Manager/Dock Manager.

  • Lead and direct a dock crew to achieve shift objectives. Communicate, problem solve and react to challenges with service, safety, and operational targets in mind.

  • Enforce proper handling procedures with a focus on reducing damages and accurate exception reporting.

  • Coordinate with Central Dispatch inbound/outbound Trailers

  • Load/Unload trailers

  • Ensure all employees are instructed in safe work practices and that work is carried out in a safe manner. You will be responsible for enforcing procedures with the current dock staff & to train new staff. Possible overtime when others are not in (ie: vacation/sick coverage)

Qualifications
  • Previous experience working an LTL cross dock

  • Previous supervisor/team lead experience

  • Forklift experience is required.

  • Ability to lead, delegate, and multitask.

  • Dedicated company employee committed to achieving operational and financial targets.

  • Adaptable to situational challenges, including manpower, freight volumes, lack of equipment, and tight timelines.

  • A problem solver with a positive attitude.

  • Geographical knowledge of Ontario/Canada is an asset
