A leading company in Manitoba is seeking a Weed Inspector for a seasonal position from April to November. The role involves the identification and eradication of noxious weeds, rodent control, and mosquito control in urban areas. ? Responsible for the identification and eradication of weeds in both rural and urban areas per provincial guidelines.
? Complete the Rodent control program at Municipal landfill sites and transfer sites.
? Completes basal spraying under the Dutch Elm Disease program.
? Completes the mosquito control program in urban areas, including monitoring, larvicide, and spraying.
? Enforces the Noxious Weeds Act.
Qualifications:
? Familiarity with noxious weeds, their identification, biology, and control as well as the implications of soil and other conditions in the area is considered an asset.
? Class 5 driver?s license.
? Must be eligible for and capable of obtaining Provincial applicators license (Rural Municipal) and permits pertaining to the use of pesticides and herbicides under the Manitoba Pesticide and Fertilizers Control Act (license), the Manitoba Environment Act (pesticide use permit) and Canada Pest Control Products act (product label uses).
Skills:
? Knowledge and application of various pest control methodologies
? Familiarity and good working knowledge of related statutes and regulations.
? Basic computer skills and use of MS office.
? Work will mostly be unsupervised, must have excellent time management, and organizational skills.
Schedule:
? Monday to Friday, 80 hours bi-weekly, April to October
