Job summary

Airswift is seeking a WEC Specialist - DMHV Directional Driller in Calgary, AB for a 1-year assignment with a 21/7 rotation. The role focuses on safe, efficient directional drilling, wellbore placement optimization, and regulatory compliance at customer wellsites.

You will support operational performance, risk management, and service quality while interacting with rig personnel and client representatives. Travel to field locations is required.

Qualifications

  • Experience as a Directional Driller or in directional drilling and well placement operations.
  • Ability to ensure compliance with HSE procedures and regulatory requirements.
  • Commitment to maintaining required safety training.
  • Ability to interpret drilling parameters and advise operational decisions.
  • Experience collaborating with rig crew and customer representatives.
  • A 4x4 truck is required to travel to field locations.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor and execute directional drilling programs to achieve planned well trajectories.
  • Provide real-time drilling recommendations to optimize wellbore placement and drilling performance.
  • Analyze directional survey data and ensure compliance with drilling plans.
  • Maintain safe, efficient, and reliable service delivery to customers.
  • Identify opportunities to improve service delivery and implement standard work practices.
  • Manage risk during service delivery and participate in job risk analysis activities.
  • Support continual improvement programmes that enhance operational and service performance.
  • Develop customer contacts to promote the company’s products and services.
  • Ensure company and regulatory compliance through self-assessments and wellsite inspections.
  • Participate in service quality meetings with customers and support performance improvement through action plans.
  • Contribute to HSE and quality initiatives and follow PPE and safety policy requirements.
  • Maintain required safety training for the WEC Specialist - DMHV Directional Driller position.

WEC Specialist - DMHV Directional Driller Duration: 1-year Location: Calgary, AB. Rotation: 21/7 days Start date: Beginning August 2026

Position Overview

The WEC Specialist - DMHV Directional Driller is a field-based drilling position responsible for delivering directional drilling services safely, efficiently, and reliably at customer wellsite's. In this role, the Directional Driller provides technical expertise to support well trajectory execution, operational performance, risk management, and service quality throughout drilling operations. The position requires strong focus on HSE compliance, operational excellence, and customer engagement while ensuring accurate and timely delivery of all directional drilling job objectives. The WEC Specialist - DMHV Directional Driller plays a critical role in supporting successful well construction activities in a safety-critical environment.

  • Experience as a Directional Driller, MWD/LWD Specialist, Drilling Engineer, or in directional drilling and well placement operations.
  • Ability to support regulatory and company compliance through inspections, assessments, and adherence to HSE procedures.
  • Commitment to maintaining required safety training.
  • Understanding of directional surveying and well trajectory management.
  • Ability to interpret drilling parameters and provide operational recommendations.
  • Experience working with drilling rig personnel and customer representatives.
  • Experience supporting safe, efficient, and reliable service delivery.
  • A 4x4 truck is required to travel to the field location.
