Job summary

Altitude Ep in Calgary, Alberta is looking for motivated individuals to service MWD tools on remote rig sites across Western Canada. The role involves pre-job setup, tool supervision, and monitoring of directional surveys. Candidates should hold valid safety certificates and be capable of lifting heavy equipment while maintaining a strong work ethic.

The position demands working on-call in a safety-sensitive environment with 12-hour shifts. Previous MWD or rig experience is an asset, and a technical degree/diploma is preferred.

We are actively seeking highly motivated and fast learning individuals that want to learn Altitude’s top tier EM MWD (Measurement While Drilling) tools and perform services on rural remote rig-sites throughout Western Canada.

Responsibilities
  • Pre-job setup of the surface equipment, assembly, and testing of the downhole tools
  • Tool handling and supervision during installation of MWD equipment into drilling contractor’s bottom‑hole assembly
  • Verify proper tool function and monitor the accuracy of directional surveys and gamma data
  • Ensure MWD equipment at the field site is operated in accordance with Altitude’s execution plans, guidelines, and established operating limits
  • Troubleshoot issues that arise and proactively work towards increased equipment reliability
  • Fill out field reporting accurately and completely including run data, summaries, discrepancies, and daily reports
  • End of well gamma logs compiled to client’s standards and AER/Sask Energy compliance
  • Perform field level maintenance including log file downloads, tool cleaning, seal replacement, battery replacement
  • Maintain accurate inventory of MWD tools on location and proactively communicate with MWD Coordinator regarding tool requirements
  • Transport MWD equipment and supplies to and from rig-site as required
  • Daily communication with MWD Coordinator regarding daily operational reports and summary reports
Requirements
  • Valid safety certificates (H2S, First Aid & CPR, CSO, Fall Protection)
  • Able to lift and carry up to 75 lbs
  • Display a strong work ethic and reliability
  • Must have a strong attention to detail
  • Ability to work in a safety-sensitive environment and comply with pre‑access and site-specific health and safety requirements
  • Ability to work 12‑hour shifts (including nights) and be away from home for extended periods of time. While on location, on‑call 24 hours
  • Degree or Diploma in a technical program is preferred (Petroleum/Mechanical/Electrical Engineering)
  • Previous MWD or Rig experience is an asset
