Job Description

Position Summary

Responsible for maintenance, servicing and repairs of roads and other infrastructure assets. This role maintains contracted assets (such as roadways, medians, signs, guardrails, fences, bridges, tunnels, vegetation, etc.) per contract standards and as directed by supervisor. This role may be assigned to winter or summer equipment operations as required.

Responsibilities
  • Creates safe Maintenance of Traffic by setting up and removing traffic control devices (cones, message/arrow boards, temporary signage, etc.).
  • Work from heights in bucket trucks, scaffolding, ladders and aerial lifts.
  • Perform basic maintenance and repair of bridges structures and equipment rooms (portals, railings, expansion joints, doors, painting).
  • Repair/maintain roadway catch basins, sumps and pumps, fire hydrants and other mechanical assets; use hand/power tools.
  • Repair/maintain equipment room ventilation systems.
  • Repair/maintain basic electrical systems (emergency telephones, CCTV systems, electronic signs, call boxes, lane signals, lighting).
  • Transport crew and equipment to work sites using large trucks and trailers.
  • Be available for emergency response rotations; overtime, evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
  • Contribute to a diverse, inclusive, fair work environment free from discrimination, bullying and harassment.
  • Comply with company policies and procedures; perform all other duties as assigned.
  • Maintain and repair highways and surfaces (potholes, striping, reflectors, concrete/asphalt work).
  • Keep highways and medians clean through litter/debris removal.
  • Repair/maintain slopes, berms, culverts, drains, etc. using appropriate tools.
  • Control vegetation appearance and growth using equipment and chemical sprayers as appropriate.
  • Maintain signs, guardrails, fences and lighting through repair/replacement.
  • Keep roadways free of debris; assist with snow removal and sanding as needed.
  • Interoperate with the public in a professional manner.
  • All other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • HS Diploma or GED (Required).
  • One (1) year work experience in infrastructure, maintenance, and repair (Preferred).
  • Valid DZ or AZ driver license with good driving record (Required).
  • Knowledge of underground infrastructure maintenance; ability to practice safe work methods.
  • Ability to recognize hazards and adjust work practices to avoid loss or injury.
  • Willingness to wear PPE appropriate to the job.
  • Good verbal/written communication; basic math; ability to understand instructions; reading and interpreting safety rules and manuals.
  • Flexible availability for extended hours to meet business needs; high attention to detail; ownership of responsibilities.
  • Basic knowledge of methods, materials, tools and equipment used in concrete, asphalt repair, construction and maintenance; skill with small hand tools.
  • Ability to interface with the public professionally.
  • Education: HS Diploma or GED; Driving license required; Physically able to perform duties.
Work Environment & Physical Demands

Exposed to traffic and outdoor weather conditions; extreme heat/cold; possible wet/humid conditions; high places; fumes/particles; exposure to chemicals, insects, and occasional reptiles/rodents. Noise levels typically moderate. Ability to lift up to 50 pounds; ability to work at heights and in confined spaces; PPE as required; fit test for respirator as required.
