Job Description:
Position Summary
Assist the leadership team with project monitoring, reporting, and compliance related to the Maintenance Rating Program (MRP) and the Safety Plan. Provide leadership on health, safety, environmental, and quality (HSE) requirements for the project.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
- Set and lead by example in Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) standards, fostering a collaborative partnership mindset.
- Serve as an HSE subject matter expert for the project/site leadership.
- Lead, model, and coach techniques for safety meetings, toolbox talks, and lessons learned reviews.
- Conduct worksite HSE observations to ensure compliance with regulations and requirements.
- Mentor and coach staff on HSE issues and document observations in the safety management system.
- Assist in developing and updating the Project or Site-Specific HSE Plan and JHA/JSA documents.
- Develop and conduct HSE training and meetings, documenting information in the learning management system.
- Investigate incidents and near-misses, determine root causes, and communicate lessons learned.
- Track HSE statistical data to plan improvements and inform leadership.
- Provide emergency care and first aid as needed, oversee case management and return-to-work programs.
- Support the implementation of the Corporate Fit for Duty Program.
- Maintain HSEQ administrative files and inventory supplies.
- Communicate daily activities to stakeholders and ensure safety is prioritized.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

- Knowledge of federal, state/provincial, local, and company HSEQ standards.
- Ability to collaborate, troubleshoot, and problem-solve with teams and leaders.
- Capable of bridging gaps between HSEQ expectations and field practices.
- Ability to recognize and rank hazards, stopping work when necessary to mitigate risks.
- Strong organizational skills with a positive customer service approach.
- Attention to detail and high level of safety awareness.
- Must pass DMV, background, and drug screening.
- Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
Education and Experience
- At least 2 years of experience in infrastructure or maintenance industries.
- At least 1 year of HSE leadership experience in construction or general industry.
- Associate degree or working towards a Bachelor’s degree in a safety-related field (or equivalent experience).
- Possession or pursuit of a professional HSE credential such as ASP, CSP, CRSP, or OHST.
- Valid driver’s license with an excellent driving record.
Work Conditions/Physical Demands
- Ability to walk at least one mile on rugged terrain and lift 35 pounds unassisted.
- Ability to reach, bend, squat, climb, stand, and sit in various environments.
- Must wear PPE as required.
- Ability to make sound decisions in noisy, hazardous environments.
- On-call availability 24/7 for critical operations.
