Job description

The HoneyBadger Team is looking for a Web Developer to join our high-performing team of professionals. We are looking for like-minded individuals who display grit, integrity, hard work, and an ability to think outside the box.

HoneyBadger was founded in 2016 when we launched our first kiosk in Vancouver, BC. Today with over 230 locations nationally, we have become Canada’s fastest-growing and most reliable network of cryptocurrency kiosks. We are looking for someone that is versatile and collaborative with a front-end focus to help bring our digital platforms to life. You’ll be responsible for building, maintaining, and optimizing engaging user interfaces while supporting backend integrations and performance enhancements. The ideal candidate combines excellent development skills with an eye for design and user experience, and thrives in a fast-paced, cross-functional environment.

While this role is primarily front-end oriented, familiarity with backend technologies and infrastructure operations (especially within a DevOps culture) will be considered a strong asset.

This is a full-time, in-office position at our Downtown Vancouver Office.

Responsibilities :

  • Build, modify, and maintain responsive, user-focused websites using modern frameworks and CMS platforms such as WordPress and Wix.
  • Create and customize WordPress themes and plugins, using best practices and maintaining consistent code quality.
  • Implement front-end functionality using HTML, CSS, TypeScript, and frameworks like Chakra UI and React.js.
  • Optimize front-end performance, bundle assets using tools such as Webpack, and contribute to CI / CD processes.
  • Implement and maintain website analytics, SEO best practices, and geo-direct functionality.
  • Collaborate with UI / UX designers to prototype, test, and iterate on interactive designs.
  • Integrate RESTful APIs and work with cross-functional teams including DevOps, IT, and marketing.
  • Maintain website uptime, performance monitoring, and security using nginx, Linux-based systems (Debian / Ubuntu), and cloud platforms such as AWS and GCP.
  • Support troubleshooting and bug resolution; assist with server-related tasks (e.g., reverse proxying, DNS, and SSL configuration) as needed.
  • Coordinate content updates with external agencies and localization partners.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field—or equivalent work experience.
  • 3–5 years of experience in a front-end or full-stack web development role.
  • Proficient with bundlers and build tools such as Webpack, Grunt, or Gulp.
  • Familiarity with Linux environments, nginx web servers, and server-side configurations.
  • Experience integrating and managing RESTful APIs.
  • Understanding of CI / CD pipelines and tooling.
  • Basic understanding or hands-on exposure to backend tools and languages such as Python, Go, SQL (MariaDB / MySQL), or Laravel is a plus.
  • Knowledge of infrastructure and monitoring tools like Terraform, Datadog, and Prometheus is an asset.
  • Strong collaboration and communication skills; ability to convey technical information to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Detail-oriented, organized, and self-driven with a proactive approach to problem-solving.

Bonus

  • Experience in a start-up and / or technology company;
  • Interest and / or experience in the cryptocurrency / blockchain field;
  • Experience with blockchain node operation (Bitcoin, Ethereum, etc.) is a bonus but not required.
