STRATEGIC COMMUNICATIONS & MARKETING

The Strategic Communications & Marketing (SCM) Office directs all corporate communications through storytelling, media relations, marketing, branding, creative and digital media strategies across the University. SCM oversees strategic communications and marketing policies, procedures, strategies and plans that advance the University's vision, mission and reputation. This unit works in close collaboration with other University units across both campuses to implement strategies, develop performance standards and monitor effectiveness of the strategies.

Salary Range: $50,098 - $79,182 per annum

YOUR FOCUS

Reporting to the Web Manager, the Web Content Analyst collaborates with the Web Team within the Strategic Communications & Marketing office, to plan, develop, and implement content updates and web content strategies for the UNB website. This position also plays an integral role in working with departments and units within the university to provide guidance, strategy and alignment regarding their web content goals.

  • Collaborate with the Web Manager and key stakeholders to maintain and enhance the UNB website in alignment with institutional and Strategic Communications and Marketing (SCM) objectives.
  • Align web content and design strategies with the UNB brand and best practices in partnership with the SCM team.
  • Support the strategic vision and day-to-day management of UNB's web properties, with an initial focus on the web refresh project.
  • Lead the development and implementation of search engine optimization (SEO) strategies for UNB's external website.
  • Conduct keyword research to identify high-impact search terms related to academic programs, research areas, and recruitment priorities.
  • Optimize website content, metadata, and site structure to boost organic search visibility and rankings.
  • Monitor and analyze web traffic and search performance using tools such as Google Analytics.
  • Partner with content creators and academic units to embed SEO best practices in new and existing content.
  • Identify and resolve technical SEO issues including page speed, broken links, mobile responsiveness, and crawl errors.
  • Track, evaluate, and report on SEO performance and recommend actions to improve reach and audience engagement.
  • Stay current with changing search engine algorithms and digital marketing trends to ensure continued web competitiveness.
  • Use website analytics to propose data-driven improvements and measure campaign performance; provide regular reports.
  • Understand user needs and audience journeys to refine content strategy in line with strategic goals.
  • Support the UNB community by providing guidance on web standards, SEO, web writing, and digital measurement.
  • Develop and maintain a web writing guide for internal and external stakeholders.

What You Bring

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Computer Information Systems, Web Design, Digital/Internet Marketing or a related field.
  • 3-5 years related experience.
  • A combination of education and experience may be considered.

Additional Strengths

  • Extensive experience with web content management systems, including configuration of user roles, workflows, layouts/themes, and system administration.
  • Experience with Cascade CMS is a strong asset.
  • Experience in a higher education, government, or non-profit environment is considered an asset.
  • Recent, proven experience using tools such as Google Analytics, Google Tag Manager, and Google Search Console, with the ability to present findings and provide actionable recommendations.
  • Exceptional writing, proofreading, and editing skills, with a keen eye for detail, content accuracy, tone, and brand consistency.
  • Strong understanding of SEO best practices and strategic web campaign planning, with the ability to explain these concepts clearly to stakeholders with varying levels of technical knowledge.
  • Demonstrated experience managing large-scale websites.
  • Proven ability to work collaboratively with cross-departmental project teams representing diverse interests, roles, and communication styles.
  • Solid knowledge of web usability, UX/UI principles, graphic design, and information architecture.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to engage tactfully and diplomatically with a wide range of university stakeholders to support website improvement efforts.
  • Comfortable working in a highly collaborative environment using project management tools and best practices.
  • Familiarity with front-end web development, including HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.
