Description

N8tive Synergy is assisting GSMA in recruiting for a Full-Time position at Edwards Air Force Base (EAFB). Hourly pay begins at $38.87 plus $4.57 per hour for up to 40 hours per week Health & Welfare. Night differential is compounded to base pay. Duties may include occasional overtime. The schedule will be determined by the Site Manager.

Minimum requirements:

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen
  • Be able to get and maintain a DoD “SECRET” Clearance
  • Prior observation experience and/or certification with the Department of Defense (DoD), Federal Aviation Administration, or National Weather Service, including two years’ experience in observing, taking, recording, and disseminating surface weather observations using Meteorological Aviation Routine Weather Report (METAR) code
  • Prior forecaster certification with the Department of Defense (DoD) or National Weather Service, including two years of experience in aviation forecasting.
  • Must have completed a DoD formal training program for weather observing AND forecasting or equivalent National Weather Service programs. Must provide proof of completion.
  • Must have visual acuity correctable to 20/20 with glasses or contacts throughout the life of the contract
  • Experience in rawinsonde a plus

Desired qualifications:

  • Knowledgeable in USAF Air & Space Weather Operations processes and procedures. REF: AFMAN 15-129
  • Ability to operate and troubleshoot meteorological plus communications equipment (FMQ-19, FMQ-23, PMSV radio, Gibson Ridge, JET).
  • Experience operating the Automated Service Operating System (ASOS)
  • Experience with JET – Joint Environmental Toolkit
  • JET System Administrator experience valued
  • Experience using the Gibson Ridge Radar (GR Level 2 Analyst and GR Level 3 Stormtrack)
  • Radar Program Manager or System Administrator experience valued
  • Experience with the USAF Self-Assessment Program (SAP)
  • Management Internal Control Toolset (MICT) experience valued
  • Experience with Metrics valued (WWA Verification, TAF Verification, Operations Verification)
  • Experience with USAF Weather Career Field Air Force Training Record (AFTR) platform
  • Training Manager (Electronic / Digital) experience valued
  • Computer knowledge, including working with Microsoft products

Duties Include:

  • Performs Meteorological Weather Watch, by taking, evaluating, recording, encoding, and disseminating surface weather observations
  • Operating and relaying weather forecasts and observations to airborne pilots using the Pilot to Metro Service radio
  • Monitors radar and satellite imagery and is able to determine severe and non-severe weather using these systems
  • Provide resource protection for Edwards Air Force Base by forecasting weather warnings, watches, and advisories for the base
  • Receives, encodes, and disseminates pilot reports (PIREPs)
  • Ability to produce a weather forecast using DD Form 175-1, Flight Weather Briefing
  • Performs Meteorological Weather Watch producing, encoding, and disseminating Terminal Aerodrome Forecasts and Mission Execution Forecasts.
