We currently have an opening for an Installation Technician in New Brunswick. Resourcefulness is a necessary skill in this role. You should be able to diagnose and resolve problems quickly. You should also have the patience to communicate with a variety of interdisciplinary teams and users.

Responsibilities

  • Setup and configure switching, routing, and wireless environments
  • Perform, test, and troubleshoot structured cabling for Cat5e/Cat6/Cat7, multi-pair copper, coax and single multi-mode fibre optic cables
  • Perform wiring/termination of low-voltage cabling
  • Evaluate, test, install and implement new and existing hardware and software across the network. This includes switches, routers, firewalls, intrusion detection devices, and network management components
  • Set-up and install new equipment such as PCs, monitors, card readers, access points, cameras, locks, and switches
  • Diagnose and repair PCs
  • Troubleshoot networks
  • Perform site surveys by taking pictures and completing checklist tasks
  • Record and document hardware/software problems, actions, and solutions
  • Read and interpret blueprints/diagrams and product manuals assigned to the project
  • Clean up after the job is complete
  • Traveling to job sites, which may include traveling around the Maritimes
  • Working overtime may be required

Qualifications

  • College degree
  • 1-2 years of experience as an Installation Technician
  • Own a cell phone
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Own a vehicle would be an asset
  • Ability to climb ladders and work in confined spaces
  • Ability to lift heavy objects
  • Above average work ethic and track record as an outstanding performer
  • Creative and efficient problem solving that delivers robust and long-term solutions on time
  • Has been recognized by for providing extraordinary customer service on numerous occasions
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills; ability to communicate technical topics in audience-appropriate language
  • Requires minimal supervision to understand and execute full scope of any assignment
  • Reliable and available for the job when required
  • Resourcefulness and problem-solving attitude
  • Great at organizing, prioritizing and multitasking
