About the position

We are hiring a Projects Manager – Manitoba Eco-Network

Are you passionate about pursuing environmental and social justice, equity and decolonization, and nurturing diversity and inclusivity wherever and however possible?

Then you might be the right person to join our team as Projects Manager.

We seek a self-motivated, organized individual with good time management skills, problem-solving abilities, and experience in developing projects from conception to execution.

The Manitoba Eco-Network (MbEN) is a not-for-profit, registered charity connecting Manitoba’s environmental community and educating the public since 1984. MbEN employs program delivery and networking to fulfill its mandate.

The Projects Manager will support MbEN’s programs, research, and community engagement activities, leading initiatives like Climate Safe, Green City, and the Home Energy Use Maps project, while developing new campaigns aligned with strategic priorities.

Reporting to the Executive Director, responsibilities include administrative, communication, fundraising, and other duties, with administrative tasks comprising a significant part of daily activities.

Desired Experience
  • Relevant academic and/or professional experience; a Bachelor’s or Graduate degree is preferred.
  • Commitment to environmental and social justice, equity, and decolonization.
  • Project management and organizational skills.
  • Strong community outreach skills, with ability to engage diverse populations.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, including grant writing and reporting.
  • Experience with research, analyzing policy, and developing databases.
  • Familiarity with fundraising platforms like Keela and CanadaHelps.
  • Experience with WordPress, Mailchimp, social media management.
General Responsibilities
  1. Develop strategies for projects like Climate Safe, Green City, in partnership with local organizations and city agencies.
  2. Expand the organization’s networks online and offline.
  3. Create and incubate new projects and campaigns.
  4. Write grant proposals and reports.
  5. Support fundraising efforts and organize social events.
  6. Assist with daily operations, including communication, administrative, and financial tasks.
  7. Perform other duties as assigned by the Executive Director.

This position offers a flexible schedule (30-35 hours/week), with starting pay at $24.78/hour, in accordance with the CUPE Collective Agreement. Benefits include three weeks of holiday per year plus an additional week off during the holiday season. It is a one-year term position with potential for extension, primarily in-office with some hybrid work possible.
