Job summary

AECOM is seeking a Water/Wastewater Process Engineering Graduate to join our Southwestern Ontario municipal water market in London, Ontario. You will work with the project team on drinking water and wastewater projects through all lifecycle stages, starting in January or May 2027.

Under supervision, you will perform design calculations, create drawings, assist with equipment selection, and contribute to technical memos, specifications, and cost estimates. Travel to site visits may be required.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Environmental, or Chemical Engineering or related field.
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to travel for site visits.
  • Strong interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills with the ability to work independently in a multidisciplinary team.

Responsibilities

  • Perform assignments applying standard engineering techniques to support water and wastewater projects.
  • Undertake preliminary and detailed design activities for water and wastewater infrastructure under supervision.
  • Create designs, calculations, sketches, diagrams, and final working drawings under supervision.
  • Assist with equipment selection and coordination with suppliers and vendors, including technical reviews.
  • Prepare technical specifications, special provisions, and tender forms.
  • Collect, validate and analyze technical data to inform design.
  • Use engineering software for basic problems (spreadsheets, CAD, modeling).
  • Coordinate design inputs with internal teams and stakeholders.
  • Apply QA/QC procedures and escalate issues as needed.
  • Prepare technical memos and reports to support deliverables.
  • Assist with cost estimate developments and reviews.
  • Support construction services during execution and site inspections.

Job Description

As part of our continued growth and success in the Southwestern Ontario municipal water market, AECOM is seeking a Water/Wastewater Process Engineering Graduate for a newly created position to be based in London, Ontario.

This role will work collaboratively with the Project Team on a variety of drinking water and wastewater projects, including treatment, pumping, storage, and related infrastructure through all project stages (planning and feasibility, design, construction, start-up and commissioning, and close-out).

This position is expected to be starting in January or May 2027.

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Perform assignments requiring the application of standard engineering techniques, procedures, and criteria to support water and wastewater treatment projects.
  • Undertake preliminary and detailed engineering design activities for water and wastewater infrastructure under the supervision of an experienced engineer (e.g., process design calculations, mass balances, hydraulic profiles, PFDs/P&IDs, layout sketches).
  • Create designs, calculations, sketches, diagrams, schematic drawings, and final working drawings under the supervision of an experienced engineer.
  • Assist with equipment selection and and coordination with suppliers and vendors, including technical reviews and comparison of alternatives.
  • Prepare technical specifications, special provisions, and forms of tender.
  • Collect, validate and analyze technical data (e.g., flow, loading, water quality) and assist with interpreting results to inform design.
  • Use engineering software and tools to solve basic engineering problems (e.g., spreadsheets, CAD/model review, and entry-level process/hydraulic modeling).
  • Coordinate design inputs and information exchanges with internal multidisciplinary teams; coordinate status, issues, and needs proactively.
  • Apply quality and safety procedures, participate in QA/QC reviews, and elevate complex issues or deviations for guidance.
  • Prepare concise technical memos and reports to support project deliverables.
  • Assist with cost estimate developments; review estimates for completeness and accuracy.
  • Assist with constructions services during the construction of water and wastewater infrastructure and facilities (e.g., submittal reviews, RFIs, shop drawings) and site inspections.
  • Perform tasks in alignment with agreed scope, schedule, and budget, documenting assumptions and decisions.
  • Actively engage in professional development, training, and knowledge-sharing; show initiative in taking on new responsibilities as skills develop.
Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Civil, Environmental, or Chemical Engineering or other related field.
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to travel for site visits, as needed.
  • Strong interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills with the ability to work independently on clearly defined tasks and contribute within a multidisciplinary team.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Eligible to apply for P.Eng. with Professional Engineers Ontario (PEO) within four years.
  • Co-op/internship or project experience supporting water or wastewater treatment processes.
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze technical data and prepare clear written reports.

Offered rate of compensation will be based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. The range for this position is $60000 to $75000.
