Job summary

Environmental Operators Certification Program seeks a Water/Wastewater Operator for Fort St. James, BC.

The role reports to the Foreman and the Director of Operations, handling operation, maintenance, inspection, and repair of water and wastewater systems to ensure safe drinking water and proper wastewater conveyance. The position is full-time, permanent, unionized, offering 40 hours per week, with a $44.55 hourly rate and a 4% in lieu of vacation after a 90-day probation.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Water/Wastewater Operator Level I Certification and Level 1 Water Treatment.
• Class 5 Driver’s License with a clean driver’s abstract, basic First Aid.
• Minimum of two years of experience with water distribution, wastewater collection, wastewater treatment systems, lift/pump station maintenance.
• Class 3 Driver’s License with Air Brakes would be an asset.

Responsibilities

• Operate, maintain, inspect, monitor, and repair the District’s water distribution, wastewater collection, and stormwater systems.
• Conduct water-quality and wastewater sampling and monitor system performance.
• Perform infrastructure inspections and repairs and operate required equipment.
• Respond to utility-related emergencies and maintain accurate operational records.
