Job summary

Town of Banff is seeking a Water Services Operator to ensure the quality of our water and wastewater systems is exceptional. You will join a dedicated team in a municipal utility responsible for a modern wastewater treatment plant and related infrastructure.

The successful candidate will hold Level III or IV wastewater certification, have experience with Biological Nutrient Removal, and bring strong mechanical maintenance abilities, plus CPR and First Aid certifications.

Qualifications

  • Current Level III or IV certification in Wastewater Treatment.
  • Experience with Biological Nutrient Removal preferred.
  • Millwright experience or strong mechanical maintenance experience in industrial or municipal settings.
  • Class 3Q Alberta driver's license with air endorsement is an asset.
  • Standard CPR and First Aid certifications are required.
  • Laboratory experience in a wastewater setting is desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Take care of Banff by ensuring the quality of water and wastewater systems.
  • Operate a modern Class IV wastewater treatment plant and related equipment.
  • Perform maintenance and repairs with a strong mechanical aptitude.
  • Adhere to Occupational Health and Safety policies and safety protocols.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement within the municipal utility.

The successful applicant will possess current Level III or IV certification in Wastewater Treatment and ideally have experience with Biological Nutrient Removal. We operate a modern Class IV wastewater treatment plant and consistently meet the strictest effluent discharge limits in the province of Alberta. Preference will be given to candidates with millwright experience or strong mechanical aptitude and maintenance experience in an industrial or municipal utility setting. A Class 3Q Alberta driver's license with air endorsement is an asset, along with experience operating heavy and light equipment. Standard CPR and First Aid certifications are required. Laboratory experience in a wastewater setting is also highly desirable.
